Boston, MA -- The Team New England Hockey Club is excited to announce that current Boston Pride NWHL Defenseman, Kaliya Johnson, has been named the new Girls Hockey Director for the 2019 Spring/Summer season, effective immediately.

Kaliya Johnson, a native of Chandler, AZ, takes over the reigns of the Team New England girls program in 2019.  Johnson currently plays professional women's ice hockey for the Boston Pride in the NWHL, and has been heavily involved in coaching and youth development both in her home state of Arizona, and locally in New England since she moved relocated here in 2012 to attend Boston College.

Johnson grew up playing her midget hockey with the Anaheim Lady Ducks, before switching coasts to play her prep school hockey at the North American Hockey Academy (NAHA) in Vermont.  It was at NAHA that Johnson committed to Boston College, where she would prove to be a mainstay on the Eagles' blue line for four of the most successful seasons in program history.  A reliable, and two-way defender, Johnson tallied 7 goals, 36 assists, for 43 points in her 142 career games at Boston College.

Upon graduating from Boston College, Johnson signed with the NWHL's Connecticut Whale for the 2016-17 season.  After a successful rookie year, Johnson was offered and signed a contract with the Boston Pride, where she is currently in her second season.  On an international scale, Johnson was a member of the 2011-12 USA U18 Women's World Champion Silver Medal Team.

Kaliya is excited to be at the helm of the Team New England Hockey Club, and work with all of our talented young athletes as they work to rise up the hockey ladder and achieve their dreams!  Kaliya can be reached at: kaliya.johnson@teamnewenglandhockey.com
