Canton, MA - The Team New England 2006's made their 2019 debut this past weekend at the Harrow Invite in Canton, and emerged victorious as the dust cleared on Sunday afternoon.
The team started off the weekend with a hard-fought 5-3 win over the East Coast Militia. The team was backboned by stellar goaltending and selfless puck moving, which resulted in some very nice goals.
On Saturday, the team picked up right where they left off on Friday evening; scoring early and taking care of business in the defensive end. Saturday morning began with an 8-4 win over the Mass Musketeers, and then concluded with the team cruising past the Leprechauns by a score of 11-0. This round robin performance earned the 06's the #1 Seed heading into the semi-final round on Sunday morning.
The 06's battled to a well-deserved 4-2 win over the Musketeers in the semi-finals, setting up a rematch with the East Coast Militia in the finals. Despite a valiant late comeback by the Militia to send the game to overtime, the TNE 06's dug deep and grinded out their fifth and final victory of the weekend to take home the 2019 Harrow Invite title!
Congratulations to our TNE 06's on an undefeated first weekend, and their first championship of the 2019 season. Thanks to coaches John Leonard and Brad Arvanitis for a great weekend, and we can't wait to get back on the ice next month!
