Salem, NH - The Team New England Hockey Club took the ice for the first time in 2020 this past weekend, as our teams ventured north to New Hampshire to take part in the CCM Boston Spring Invite. Each of our teams had a great weekend, as the 2008 Elite and 2009 Elite teams bowed out in the semi-finals prior to watching the 2010 Elites bring home the hardware in dramatic fashion.
The weekend began with a hard-fought 5-4 win on Friday against a scrappy Mass Edge 67's team. That energy was parlayed into Saturday, where the 2010's continued to roll by cruising past the Galligan Snipers by a score of 9-4 and edging out a talented NY Lokomotiv group 3-2 to cap off Round Robin with a perfect 3-0 record.
The TNE 2010's fell behind early on to the MaxPro Jets by a score of 4-1, before rallying to plot 4 quick goals and take a 5-4 lead right before the half. The 10's never looked back, and punched their ticket to the Championship Game with a 9-5 win. The Championship proved to be a battle, but goaltender Jesse Berardinelli held the fort down and forced the game into overtime. In the extra frame, it took all of 20 seconds for the forward conglomerate of Cameron Daigle, TJ Petropoulos, and Owen Lundin to punch home the winner.
Congratulations to the Team New England 2010 Elite Team on their Championship in the first event of the spring/summer season, and we're excited to see what else our teams will accomplish in 2020!
